Evening with Theo

December 13, 2011

All we hear in the barn are the sounds of 4 horses eating their hay…and from time to time a bit of stepping in the stall.
I take Theo out of his stall, without a rope and lead him to the front of his stall, so we can groome him. Until today we tied him to a bar of his stall, but I felt like not doing that today. He started to eat from the hay in front of his stall. Then he found out there was no rope so he stepped aside and started to eat Ivy’s hay and started exploring a bit.

We brought him back to his “own hay”. He understood, I mean, he did not walk away and was satisfied with his hay. Cor brushed him. I sat close by on a bale of straw and enjoyed. I got up and stood next to Theo’s head. He stopped eating, had his head low (which doesn’t happen very often with this alert spirit) and enjoyed the attention of Cor taking care of his hooves and me, talking in a low voice. What do I tell my horse? That’s our secret.

When Cor told him to move to the other side so he could do the other hooves, Theo responded like he always does. He coorporates.
This was a new, nice exercise for the three of us. Grooming, taking care of Theo, when he’s not on a rope and chooses to stay with us (and don’t forget the hay), where he could easily go walk through the barn.
Amazing spirit. When we make our intentions clear enough, Theo does it. Like, at the end of the brushing/talking session. We open the door of his stall and he walks in, on to his “haybag”.
I was tired today, and came back from Theo with a very relaxed, happy feeling.
I wonder, do you think about having a horse too?

It’s my birthday December 23d and Cor is working on a very beautiful pendant for me.…Silver 2 mm with a golden tail. I am a lucky girl.

WELCOME

My name is Nancy van den Boom (Nancy “of the Tree”) and I live in the Netherlands, close to the exciting city of Amsterdam and the Northsea.

I discovered oil painting in 2004, and ever since then it has been my passion. The colours of the oilpaint and the magic of creating texture and form with brushes make painting such a joy for me. My studio is my home. I love to paint trees, birds, flowers and landscapes and sometimes people too.

Summer 2010 I decided to make vibrant oil painted jewelry as wearable art. I like the idea to make paintings for another purpose than the usual display.

Since February 2011 my husband Cor and I work together with handmade one of a kind sterling silver pendants for the oil paintings I make. A wonderful collaboration we enjoy very much!

I am working together too with Jana Trupovniece from Finland www.helmitarha.etsy.com

Thank you for visiting my website.
