More and more often I am approached for commissioned paintings...

This by both individuals and companies and institutions. On this page I give a description of what I do and how I work.

A commission for you as a private person

I would like to make a commissioned painting for you. This may include any subject, such as a pet, a beloved place, an object, or a portrait...

I can work from a photo that you send me. Before I get started, we first make clear agreements about the size of the painting, when you want the painting to be finished (please consider a drying period of at least two weeks). We also will discuss the costs. This depends on the size of the painting, but also the complexity of the subject. I only use very good materials (canvas, paint, medium) for a very durable painting. Upon request, the painting can be varnished after six months. After finishing the painting we can make arrangements about this.

The steps of the process are as follows

1.  We will have contact through the form you sent me, your email or telephone. We will discuss your wishes on the subject, colours, timing etc.

2. After we agree on the format of the painting, the delivery date, and price, I will confirm by email.

3. If the painting is inspired by a photo, you can provide me with the photo (preferably by email, at the highest possible resolution).

4. I will make a first draft of the painting in progress and send you a photo by email.

5. I look forward to hearing your feedback, by email or phonemail.

6. I will work on the painting with your comments to improve it to your liking.

7. Within 2 days you will receive a new picture of the work in progress with the adjustments.

Again I will ask for your response and feedback.

8. I will work on the painting, until you are satisfied, and then make a technically very good (true color) photo for you, for the final assessment.

9.  If you agree, we “lock the painting”, which means we agree that the painting is finished.

10. Keep in mind that the painting has to dry about 2 weeks before I can send it or bring it to you.

11. I will then ask for 50% of the agreed price. The remaining 50% after receiving the painting.

12. Delivery of the painting. If possible (in distance) I will handle the painting myself or if you wish, by mail. Shipping within the Netherlands is free, outside of the Netherlands the standard shipping costs will apply. If you prefer insured shipping, I will arrange this for you.

These are the guidelines for pricing:

Commissioned paintings for companies & institutions

I would love to make a painting commissioned for you. This may include any subject, such as a pet, a beloved place, an object, or a portrait...

I would like to -for example- paint a picture for your office, company hall or as a gift to your customers. I can also design an illustration in oil paint for packaging or other marketing purposes. This may include any subject, such as a portrait, a building, an interior or a product. I can work from a photo you provide or I can make the design myself. Before we agree to work together, we first discuss your requirements about the subject, the format and when you need the finished painting.  Keep in mind, a painting needs to dry at least two weeks. The costs we also discuss in advance. The costs depend not only on the size of the painting, but also the complexity of the subject and purpose of work. On short notice I can give a quote after I received all the information. I can provide photo’s that are 100% suitable for reproduction (e.g., packaging material, posters etc.).

The steps of the process are as follows

1. We will have contact through the form you sent me, your email or telephone. We will discuss your wishes on the subject, colors, timing etc.

2. When we both have the intention to work together, I will make a detailed quote and email it to you, If needed we can discuss the quote.

3. If you agree on my quote, you can confirm by email.

4. Please email me a specified briefing (s) about size, subject and what you expect from me (possible design).

5. Based on your briefing, I will start working on the painting within 2 days.

6. We can communicate during the process, by phone or by email. I will provide you with in between pictures of the work in progress.

7. Based off your feedback, I can work on your thoughts and provide new photos.

8. This means various feedback opportunities with a sharp eye on the deadline.

9. When you are happy with the painting, I will make a technically very good (true color) photograph of the work.

10. Final version and then wait for your approval.

11. If the distance (in the Netherlands no problem) permits, you will receive personal delivery by myself of the painting and / or photographs of work after 2 weeks have passed since approval by yourself.

Testimonial

As usual in the design business,” borrowed “we have a visual on the Internet of a certain style to get the image for a client presentation. When we realized later in the project that this was exactly what we needed for the actual wanted to design, we have contacted the artist (Nancy) and asked if she would consider a mission: Various typical Dutch scenes paint in her vivid, thick almost edible style, packaging for cheese to be sold in Spain and France. Nancy accepted the commission enthusiastically, and then (from our viewpoint) broken the record for speed and accuracy in response to our briefing. She produced seven scenes within three weeks. Nancy continued throughout the process always very positive, and we really enjoyed working with her. We quickly got what we wanted, with top quality, and also with a smile.
