Poppy time again

May 8, 2012

Last week I saw first poppies blooming already.
Looking forward to more and more poppies the coming weeks!

I have painted lots of poppies, with oil paint.
This one is my favorite. It was a joy to paint!

and this one too.….:-)

I found some more poppy-paintings by fellow-painters, I hope you like them!

Together Pieces with Jana

May 3, 2012

I love to work together and I am proud to be working together with sweet
Jana Tarhala from Finland. She is just wonderful to work with and a very skilled and talented artist.

This is Jana

Jana has a beautiful shop on ETSY, I’d like to see her shop filled up a bit more…it’s so special and beautiful what she makes!

Some time ago we decided to work together to make wearable art!
I send miniature paintings to Jana and then she starts working around this mini painting with her incredible beading. And then I suddenly
receive pictures of the magic result.

Jana made these wonderful bracelets with my paintings.
When you click on the pictures, you can see the details of the bracelets.

We are very happy we sold these 2 pieces 2 weeks ago. Jana takes care of sending them, and makes a lot of work of the packaging.
Jana just let me know the bracelets arrived and the customer loves the bracelets and also the lovely packaging by Jana. From my own experience I know Jana’s wrapping with beautiful ribbons and lovely extra’s makes it very special to receive our Together Pieces.

Jana has some miniature oil paintings by me in stock and I am looking forward to her new creations.

Below a picture of a necklace, to show we’re “not only making bracelets”!

Thank you dear Jana, for working with me!

Colour Tree

April 28, 2012

It’s a rainy grey day in the Netherlands. Lots of colours in my studio though.
A few years ago I painted lots of Colour Trees, in various sizes and colours. I sold quite some of them. From very small to big canvasses and even dancing ones. I chose one to show here since it is one of my favorites. It’s a great joy to paint Colour Trees and make their flowing energy visible through the texture of the thick vibrant oil painting.
The painting below is 50 x 60 cm.

April 17, 2012

This morning I painted in my cleaned-up studio.
Fresh Palette, Fresh canvas. To paint this fresh summer birch tree was a big joy! Size is 30 x 40 cm, 13 x 19 inches.

Painting and print are available in my ETSY-shop.

Fresh Studio!

April 13, 2012

I worked on several paintings at the same time lately and I enjoyed it a lot. This morning I walked into my studio and I couldn’t believe the incredible mess I saw.
To prepare for a new painting I cleaned up. I love my studio, the morning light, and all those tubes with oil paint, the cleaned brushes and enough spare blanc canvasses…

The next painting is a commission, it will be a tree “from head to toe”. I like that :-)

Theo

April 6, 2012

This post is not about painting, but about Theodore, our 12 year old gelding. He’s with us since September last year and a wonderful addition to our family. We spend many happy hours with him. He’s a happy, funny horse, very clever, bright and willing to learn. There are many appropriate and positive adjectives for Theo. It’s easy to cover it all with just a few words. I love him to pieces.

The picture was taken by Mariska, our friend at the farm where Theo lives.

Here she is with her horse Vilord. A happy couple!

Painted Skies

I love to paint skies in oil paint. With this wonderful medium I can give texture and structure in all kinds of ways.

In this post I post pictures of pieces of sky of paintings I made.

I am planning to make a series with o n l y skies, and no land. Looking forward to that! What skies do you like to see in oil paint?

Early Work

March 28, 2012

I discovered painting in 2004 and became totally, completely passionate about oil painting. The vibrancy, the texture, the brushes, the smell, the empty canvas, waiting for me.

I cannot imagine my life without painting anymore.
These are my early paintings that I want to share with you.
I painted so much, as if I had to catch up. I still have to catch up for the years I did not paint and I am enjoying it so much.

Furry Friends

March 22, 2012

I have some sweet furry friends. They enrich my life and I am happy they want to be my friends.

This is Jacky, the farmdog. He came home with me (running back home with me, while I was on the bike). Here he’s sitting in my studio, as if he is home. After this visit we took him back to the farm by car. He has a great life there. Wild and free.

Eva, beautiful feline. She’s such an amazing cat, constantly hunting and catching preys for us. Preys like cigarette packs, gloves, plants. About 6 years ago she decided to live with us. Her owner agreed and I was happy.

Bella Zorroluna, the most relaxed cat in the world. Same previous owner. Bella came together with Eva, living with us.

And the latest addition to our family: Theo, 12 year old gelding. He’s with us half a year now. A dream came true. Still cannot believe that I really have the privilidge to take care of this horse. I never had such a big friend before. He’s an amazing, wonderful loving creature that brings peace and love.

And Nico, our instructor’s horse, for our course coach-riding. He’s such a fine spirit! 18 Years already, but very energetic and trustworthy!

Occasionally I paint furry friends, for friends (for miniature paintings for a necklace).

Finally I show an acrylic painting of Keesje, my beloved friend for over 18 years. He passed away June 2011. I miss him every day.

I am going to paint Theo soon! Who are your furry friends?

Bloom in Pink

March 17, 2012

It’s almost the time of bloom!
I love painting them in thick textured oil paint.
I invite you to take a stroll along my pink paintings.
Can you smell the bloom (or is it oil paint maybe you smell?)

Below you see a tiny painting (30 x 40 cm) I sold to a lady in the US.

Big blossom painting (120 x 100 cm), it’s in the home of Dutch customers

And here is my favorite pink painting.
Cherry Blossom New York (120 x 100 cm), I sold it to customers in the Netherlands. This is one of the paintings I miss a bit, but I enjoy the thought of happy customers. It’s an honour for me that people want my paintings in their homes.

Below you see my painting Cherry Blossom Lille, a painting (100 x 80 cm) I made after a wonderful visit to Lille, to our friends Daniel en Christelle Uytterhaeghe. Daniel is a great painter, and I am very proud they visited my exhibition last year in Bussum, and bought my painting.

Thanks for visiting my blossom gallery! I hope you enjoyed this pre-spring walk.

Thank you Anna. I’d love to see the blooming trees in Italy for sure! I often was in Italy in summer, so beautiful. Spring must be very special too.

Close up Studio

March 14, 2012

My studio is my home, my castle, resort, place of inspiration.
I spend lots of hours there, playing (not working) with colours, textures, oil paint.
Nothing is on a distance. All is close and loved.

A detail of a a portrait I made of my daughter

and some more details of paintings

and some other things as well…

And a strange angle picture of a gouache painting my Dad made, when he was young

It’s always nice to have a smile close by (a painting by Jeanette House)

A loved one made this portrait of me…

And finally… the blanc canvas and the promise of a new painting

And the blanc canvas are always exciting! :)

Poppies Framed

March 4, 2012

I promised to post pictures of the Poppies painting when the over-the-top-frame was ready. Here it is! It was done by Tonnie Bechger from
Arts of Lacadre.
It is the art-shop where I had my exhibition in February. I am very happy with the result.

Tiny birds in oil paint and a little Boy

March 1, 2012

Today I got a message from the gallery-owner that a little boy visited his shop. The little boy had saved money to buy my tiny painting (10 x 8 cm) of a Red Robin. I find it so touching. I will give the boy some postcards with my paintings too. I hope he likes it.

And here some more tiny birds in oil paint.

Spring

February 29, 2012

With 12 degrees C in the Netherlands it feels like spring! Especially when the sun comes out and we can enjoy those first sunrays! I like to share my springpaintings with you. I hope you like them!

30 x 40 cm oil paint, this painting was a present for a friend in the United States.

At the farm where Theo is we saw early lambs, so cute. This painting I sold to a Dutch customer.

30 x 40 cm

The Tiny Tulip Painting below is 6 x 10 cm. It’s in Geneva now.

Seeing these scenes, I feel like painting a new spring painting.

Poppies framed

February 28, 2012

I was very lucky to exhibit about 15 works at Arts of Lecadre, an artshop in Bussum, the Netherlands. Also this painting.

I asked shopowner Mr. Robbert Bechger to frame this painting. We decided to choose an over the top frame and I will show it here as soon as it is ready. I like this painting (30 x 40 cm) a lot myself, and I intend to keep it. It will be exhibited in June/July in Het Oude Theehuys, together with about 20 paintings.
This “Old Teahouse” is a lovely location near the dunes.
Here you see a picture of Het Oude Theehuys in summer.

WELCOME

My name is Nancy van den Boom (Nancy “of the Tree”) and I live in the Netherlands, close to the exciting city of Amsterdam and the Northsea.

I discovered oil painting in 2004, and ever since then it has been my passion. The colours of the oilpaint and the magic of creating texture and form with brushes make painting such a joy for me. My studio is my home. I love to paint trees, birds, flowers and landscapes and sometimes people too.

Summer 2010 I decided to make vibrant oil painted jewelry as wearable art. I like the idea to make paintings for another purpose than the usual display.

Since February 2011 my husband Cor and I work together with handmade one of a kind sterling silver pendants for the oil paintings I make. A wonderful collaboration we enjoy very much!

I am working together too with Jana Trupovniece from Finland www.helmitarha.etsy.com
