Congratulations Jana ! The painting will be on it’s way tomorrow, accompanied with lots of love for you, Teemu and your furry friends!
In April there will be another Give Away painting, inspired by Spring!

My husband Cor van der Plaat and I worked together again, after quite some time.
Cor did the silver smithing, I did the .… painting for the use of wearable art.
I use my finest brushes and it is just great to see the silver and the painted canvas put together by Cor!
The pendant measures 30 mm square, the necklace is silver too, and 50 cm long.
We’ll be making more pendants soon!

Wat een onvermoed talent!
Mooie werken in een heftige uitvoering.

Groeten,
Joost
Hoi Joost,
en wat een onvermoede bezoeker op mijn site
erg leuk van je.
En ik wist op mijn beurt niet dat jij een atelier had. Schilder je nu helemaal niet meer?

This is the give away painting, oil painting Snow Land, 20 x 20 cm
There were lovely entries for my “shortest day of 2012″-give away!
Thank you so much everyone for all the beautiful comments on the painting!
And then I had the impossible task of choosing a winner. Some comments were short, some were long, some were even poetic and I enjoyed every one of them. So I wanted to have a fair draw and everyone should have the same chances. Every participant wants to win this painting…
So here we go:
Here are all your names!
I folded them to little “snow balls”
Here’s some white paint! I need it for the draw!
The snow balls go into the bowl and I shake them.…
I slowly pour the snowballs onto the canvas with the white paint.….
The snowball that falls into the white paint.….
Is the winner!
I pick the winner.…
And unfold.…
Yes we have a winner!
Yay!

LOOOOVE YOUR ART!
Prachtig !
Hi Nancy your painting is wonderful because it has my beloved snow !!
Would love to have it because snow is not beloved to me, but the painter is as well as the painters paintings!!
Oh, Nancy, this is wonderful! I’m in! I love your snow paintings, so serene and beautiful! I would love to go for a walk in them
I wasn’t going to comment because I have some of your beautiful art..but I am greedy
and I love your snow picture xxxxx
HAHAHHAHAHA..I am laughing over Kim’s comment!! I feel the same way as Kim, well BEFORE she got greedy. I have many magnificent pieces of your art and I don’t want to be selfish. But I do want to comment because this painting is so stunning! I am walking on the road…the purple colors from the tree shadows are beautiful yet make me feel even colder. It’s going to snow more any minute and I can imagine “The Snowman” flying up in the sky. I’m on my way to Levi Cottage for hot tea and cream scones. It is Norfolk to me…maybe because I’ve seen photos of the snow there..it just puts me there somehow. I’m enjoying the walk..the dogs are running and playing but Jim and I are cold, and we’re starting to hurry. You’ll all be there when we arrive and we’ll tell you what we saw on our walk. If I could, I would give this painting to the Cowleys.
HAHAHA my PRECIOUS ![]()
Love the “in the making ” photo
It has to dry about 2 weeks and then it will snow in Israel!

These are snow covered tulipfields.
The flat country of the Netherlands.

Size of the paintings: tiny! 18 x 24 cm !
I got freezed watching this painting. Fortunaly we have a good heater to put my feet on while watching your (perhaps mine) lovely chilly painting. Well done Nancy!

I had a great time painting this lavenderfield and trees. It’s an adventure working with the big brushes and thick paint! Size of the painting: 70 x 90 cm (27,5 x 35,5 inches).
It’s painted in thick, vibrant oil paint, chunky and free.
Here are some close ups!
The painting is for sale now in my ETSY-shop
If you like the painting, but prefer professional printed postcards, I offer them in my shop as well as set of three with envelopes. As an extra you’ll receive some dried lavender to experience the lovely scent!

In January this year it started with an email from Osborne Pike, a specialist branding and packaging design agency in the UK. If I wanted to paint for them. I hardly could believe this. But yes, that’s exactly what I want! And then a very exciting process started, with lots of sketching, oil painting, pictures, emails and telephonecalls to work together in a very inspiring and constructive way.
I have been working for “a big agency in a small package” with great people who helped me so well to get the result that was required. I was very lucky to meet them in September in Amsterdam, when Osborne Pike celebrated 10 years Osborne Pike!
On the Osborne Pike website you can read and see beautiful images of the brand Royal Hollandia by Friesland Campina, the Dutch client we worked for. The story about developing this packaging is told here and I am very proud to be part of the story with my paintings for the Royal Hollandia brand.
I am so glad I could work together on this project with my husband
Cor van der Plaat, who made the professional photographs for production. This made it very easy to work and quick too. We are a team together! And ofcourse he was taking pictures in The Cheese Factory too (see picture below).
On October 5th the The Cheese Factory in the very pittoresk Dutch Volendam was opened. We visited this beautiful place where huge prints of my painting are displayed in a wonderful setting with old tools of the trade of cheesemaking in the Netherlands. And ofcourse, cheeses with Royal Hollandia labels! It was great to see the huge prints. It was wonderful to see many tourists buying the Royal Hollandia babycheeses and photographing the huge prints of my paintings. The cheeses taste really good!
It was an adventure I can tell you. A dream come true.
And I am excited that Osborne Pike who hired me, is happy with my work.
Steve Osborne, managing director, wrote this testimonial/recommendation for me:
“As is normal in the design business, we ‘borrowed’ a visual from the internet to get across a certain style of image for a client presentation.
When later in the project we realised that we wanted something exactly like this for the actual design, we contacted the artist (Nancy) and asked if she would consider a commission: To paint several Dutch scenes in her vivid, chunky, almost edible style, for cheese packaging to be sold in Spain and France.
We wanted to use the work to communicate not only the beauty of the Dutch landscape, but also the artistry of cheesemaking, hence it was important to use a work of art and not simply photography.
Nancy enthusiastically accepted, and then proceeded (from our point of view) to break the record for speed and accuracy of response to our briefing. She produced 5 scenes and 2 still lives within 3 weeks, including numerous stages of feedback from ourselves as the designers, and also of course the client team.
Throughout this process Nancy was always very positive, and we really enjoyed working with her.
I would encourage anyone who likes her style but has another subject in mind to just ask. You’ll get what you wanted quickly, with top quality, and also with a smile!” November 13, 2012
I can only say, thank you guys for finding me, working with me, you are awesome!
I am so glad that this process has been a good one for you and that your “edible” work as the Osborne guy said is “out there”. Thanks for sharing this lovely story!
Fantastic! Especially how they saw the relationship of your “edible” style to their food product! Great!
Thanks Carol, yes it is just great to be part of this!
I don’t recognise you with this “name”, but thank you so much for the beautiful comment! And ofcourse I am so happy to share this great story!
I love how your paintings look on the wall! What a wonderful collaboration! I will keep my eyes open for this cheese if they sell in France

Cor and I made a trip to Maastricht, where my ancestors lived. It’s a trip of 250 km, we made by train, on Monday. One of my creative friends, Kim Nijsten lives in a village near Maastricht and we would like to meet, but Kim had to work that day.
This is Kim!

I admire Kim for her talent for working with felt and flowers!
I thought it would be nice to take a gift for her to Maastricht and leave it in the building where my great-granddad had his carriage-company in 1900.
Now there’s a carshop in this building! The very friendly owner put away the present safely for Kim and said she could ask for John, when she’d come to pick up her present! A day later Kim collected her present and blogged about it.
It’s so nice to read about her finding out what I gave to her!
This is my present!

I hope Kim can enjoy wearing this locket for many years in good health.
Oh I an soo gratefull for your necklace Nancy!! I´ll terasure it forever .…
XOX
It was so much fun, wasn’t it, Kim, this arrangement!? I am so happy you like the necklace so much.
